Module 2 Reflection I am having a hard time getting a hold on what is an Enterprise Architecture (EA) and The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF). This is all Greek to me but I will keep trying to get a good handle on the subjects. The chief reason for developing AE is to support the commerce by providing the critical technology and process structure for an IT approach. This will enable IT to be successful in a modern business strategy. TOGAF provides the procedures and tools for supporting the production, use, and maintenance of an enterprise architecture. After reading on the TOGAF I feel like it’s a critical part to help propel our school in the right direction. I feel like our school can benefit from TOGAF. Our organization is planning to rebuild our whole technical infrastructure. We have been growing at such a fast rate we have let down our students and stakeholders in many ways. TOGAF will give us the ability to align our business framework with the data/information needed to conduct and enhanced systems efficiency and effectiveness. This week’s readings were like Greek to me. I have taught Ag for the last seven years and it seems like I have been removed from technology over the last few years. This year is the first year I have not taught Ag or been in a classroom setting. I now teach from home in an online setting, so I am looking forward to learn as much as I can from this class. I don't have any experience in IT structure nor do I feel like I’m computer savvy. This week I have thought about how Enterprise Architecture plays a vital role to improve the efficiency of a program. Before this week I have never heard of the term Enterprise Architecture. Also how IT Teams, Staff from schools /districts and Enterprise Architecture have to work with each other for the better good. Each department has their specialty in regards to their employment. The IT team are experts at building networks and infrastructure but lack the knowledge of what a school/district needs to be successful. The same applies with staff from the schools/districts. They are specialists at instruction but don’t have the knowledge to build an infrastructure to support school/districts technology needs. So collaboration is the key to build successful infrastructures.
